It was a fictional dragon warlord… really
In early 2026, I discovered a fun, somewhat spicy “alien romance” series on Kindle Unlimited called “Fated Mates of the Sarkarnii Warlords” by Hattie Jacks. The stories centered around 6 dragon shifters in a galaxy far from Earth and their own home planet.
When a half dozen abducted female humans enter the picture, the concept of “fated mate” comes front and center. Picture a 7 foot tall man with dragon-like scales coming to grips with a female of a species he’s never encountered before. This is a woman who was an attorney on earth before she was abducted to planet Vorostor.
As Darax and Kerra learn more about each other’s species, they argue, banter, and begin to care for each other… of course… it’s a romance novel. The relationship is not much different from what humans experience on Earth, aside from riding on the back of a flying dragon, sleeping on a dragon’s hoard of jewels, and evading other weirder species who keep tying to abduct them.
What got my attention, however, were the intense feelings of dragon warlord Darax as he spent more and more time with his (hopeful) mate.
“I could not mate with any who were not my heartsfire.”
Hattie Jacks has a number of lovely messages sprinkled throughout this first book that every woman on any planet would love to hear coming from the mouth of her beloved. Here’s one more: “You are my shining star, heartsfire. Your brightness is my brightness, your power is my power, your light is my life.”
And the more I pondered the concept of “heartsfire”, I realized it was all about choosing the best of what is possible for us. Of aiming higher and not settling for less. So The Heartsfire Project is all about not settling for less than your heart’s desire, especially when it comes to love and reading material.
I hope the reviews I post here will give you the information you need that helps you choose upward.
